English Club Courses
Is your child easily bored working through a textbook? The Fantail English club is intended for children from the age of 6 who work better in a less structured environment and would like to get used to the accent of a native speaker. The English club does not prepare children for any international exam but develops an interest in learning the language in a more playful way than traditional courses. English Club lessons will help children expand their vocabulary and build their confidence in using English for everyday communication.
Fantail English Club covers the four key skills of language learning - reading, speaking, listening and, in older children, writing. The program is based on thematic units, in which children explore the language through various activities such as singing, play, creative activity, stories and physical movement. Due to the longer lesson time (lessons are 90 minutes), learners have plenty of opportunity to become exposed to and practice new vocabulary and language forms while participating in fun and engaging activities.
Fantail English Club is also available for very advanced / bilingual children, giving them space to use English in a non-domestic environment and with children who have the same level of English.

After-school Courses
Fun with English (grades 1-9) / Fun with English Bilingual (grades 1-5)
After-school English courses are intended for children from first to ninth grades and consist of 1x60 min. per week at selected primary schools (only for pupils of these schools) under the guidance of native speakers or Czech English teachers. Among the programs you will find courses for complete beginners (Fun with English Starter), for high-beginner to advanced children (Fun with English 1-6), or bilingual / very advanced children (Fun with English 1 - 5 Bilingual).
The courses are taught in a fun and playful way and expand the content of compulsory school English. We use the textbook series Academy Stars which has rich interactive material allowing the children to stay engaged with the content as much as possible.
Courses for bilingual and advanced learners (Fun with English 1–5 Bilingual) follows the Cambridge International Curriculum and use Collins International Primary English (1-5) as the main source of material.
Conversation Courses (grades 6-9)
For older learners (grades 6 to 9), the After-school English program also has conversation-based courses Conversation 1 and Conversation 2. These courses are designed to help build confidence in speaking for learners who already have a solid foundation in English. Courses are theme based and, under the guidance of an experienced native speaking teacher, students will engage in tasks and activities that help them clearly express their ideas and opinions on a wide range of topics. They will also have an opportunity to develop other key communication skills that are necessary for success in the modern world, such as: debating, negotiating, compromising, presenting and leading group discussions.
Fantail Academy Courses
These are designed for children from preschool to high school age and consist of 2x 45 minute (younger children), 2x 60 min. (middle levels) or 2x 90 min. (higher levels) lessons weekly. All courses are taught by a native speaker and lower levels also have a Czech-speaking English teacher for alternating lessons. For older children, both lessons are taught by a native speaker.
The systematic approach to teaching and learning develops all language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing. Courses include elements of the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) method, as well as preparing students for the Cambridge international exams. In addition, the content of the courses also includes the creation and presentation of individual and group projects, extended reading and practice with different writing styles (e.g. formal and informal letters, reports, reviews and essays). The aim is to give children more opportunities to improve their English at a faster pace and gain the necessary confidence to communicate with a native speaker.
Offered Courses
FA Starter - FA 2 (A0)
These courses are designed for 1st and 2nd grade children. They consist of 2x 45 min. lessons per week under the guidance of a native speaker and a Czech speaking teacher. During the lessons, children use books from the Kid's Box series (Kid's Box Starter and Kid's Box 1). Teachers introduce grammar to children in a fun and playful way and use interactive material (smart-board technology) in their teaching.
FA 3 - FA 6 (A1 - A2)
These courses are intended for children aged 8+. There are 2x 60 min. lessons per week taught by a native speaker and a Czech teacher. Children use Kid's Box 3 to Kid's Box 6 . Teachers present and revise the curriculum, among other things, through interactive material (smart-board technology) and projects.
FA 7- FA 10 (B1 - B2 +)
These courses are designed for older children and students with English level B1 or higher. There are 2x 90 min. lessons a week with a native speaker only. Learners will use the textbook series Prepare (3-7) during the courses. Learners will have fun creating and presenting projects, focus on interdisciplinary subjects (CLIL - science, geography, art, culture, etc.) and engage in critical thinking tasks in order to help them express a variety of views they may have on different topics. Reading continues to be encouraged to help anchor vocabulary and grammatical structures.
Exam Preparation
At Fantail Academy, we offer Cambridge Exam preparation courses for both children and adults. Cambridge exams give you an accurate idea of where your English language skills are at and can help with enrollment to secondary school (gymnazium), university or boost your career options. At Fantail Academy, our qualified tutors can guide you through the preparation process, providing you with test-taking strategies and techniques that will make you familiar with the style of exam questions as well as the necessary vocabulary,
grammar, idioms and phrasal verbs you will need to succeed.
